Is the Ford Edge a Good SUV?
The Ford Edge is a decent midsize SUV. It has spacious seating in both rows and a generous amount of advanced driver assistance features. You're also treated to a comfortable ride, and you get above-average fuel economy from the Edge with the base engine. Ford's infotainment system is a little outdated compared to rival offerings, but the system works well and is user-friendly.

The 2019 Ford Edge could be an enticing choice for smaller families or anyone who doesn't need third-row seating. It has more cargo space than many 2-row SUV rivals as well. A comfortable ride and decent fuel economy boost the Edge's appeal as a daily commuter.
However, this is a large class, and there are plenty of rivals worth considering. The Hyundai Santa Fe is more affordable and ranks near the top of the segment thanks to an excellent predicted reliability rating. It's available with a third row of seats in Santa Fe XL models. The Nissan Murano boasts a premium cabin and an array of easy-to-use technology, but it sits near the bottom of the class overall.
Should I Buy a New or Used Ford Edge?
The Edge was last redesigned for the 2015 model year. Ford refreshes the Edge for 2019, updating the interior and exterior styling and adding more standard safety features and a new eight-speed automatic transmission. The new performance-tuned Edge ST debuts for 2019, replacing the Edge Sport. Ford didn’t make any major changes to the 2018 or 2017 Edge, but the 2016 model gained the SYNC 3 infotainment system as an option, replacing the much maligned MyFord Touch. That alone will make it a worthwhile pick over the 2015 Edge for many shoppers, as SYNC 3 is much easier to use. If you're not interested in the 2019 updates, consider the 2016 Edge to potentially save thousands of dollars.

The 2019 Ford Edge SE has an MSRP of $29,995. That puts it on par with the starting prices of many other midsize SUVs. The Edge has three additional trims: the Ford Edge SEL ($33,300), the Titanium ($38,760), and, topping the Edge lineup, the sporty ST ($42,355). The ST is more affordable than the top-tier trims of many rivals.
